There is a reason why it is known as the Ciudad del Running. So much so that even the cheerleaders themselves were impressed by the effects their encouragement had on the participants. “I’ve received hugs from people who were crying, I think I’ll run next year because I’d like them to cheer me on in the same way”, admitted Guillermina, one of the 1,600 volunteers that play such a vital role in the race, who dreams of one day crossing the same finish line as she looked on with excitement and, why not admit it, a touch of envy. She was also cheering the loudest in the crowd as she presented the finishers with their well-deserved medals. The same medal she will be striving for next year. Because Valencia attracts new fans at the same rate as its loyal supporters grow in number. Guillermina has already made a note of the date: 25 October 2026. It is the day that she and all the other faithful have already marked on their calendars, the date of the next edition of what they consider to be the best half marathon in the world, the Valencia Half Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich. The race that awaits them promises to be even more historic.
