SuperRunners madly in love with Valencia The cheerleader who shouted the loudest Meet Clauss and Dennis, a German and a Dutchman who earned their SuperMedals at the Valencia Half Marathon. They met here because they crossed the finish line practically together. And the two of them, who were both looking for a personal best, love the city. Dennis had been here before. He is a runner with many kilometres under his belt and he has completed all six SuperHalfs. All of them in 2025. Clauss still has a few left to do, but in Valencia he ran faster than ever before. And that is the kind of thing that gets a SuperRunner going. “It is a perfect city for running. Unfortunately, I have to go home tomorrow, but the last part of this race, with the cheering, the people... and then the city, the food... It has everything”. They may not have had the same experience, but they did agree on that point. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the famous Guillermina. She did it with all the finishers who passed through her lane to receive their medals. She was the one who shouted the loudest, cheered the most, a cheerleader who embodies all the values of this half marathon. She came from Argentina in 2021 and started volunteering because helping others is what she does. She recently took up running, so... what could be better than combining her passions, she thought. That is why she was there, like the other 1,600 volunteers at the race, to cheer on the most exhausted runners. “This feeling is really lovely. Many of them arrive here feeling tired, but when they see you cheering them on, they come over and give you a hug. It makes me very excited”, she said before assuring us that she will try to run next year. Ambos se conocieron aquí porque cruzaron el arco de meta prácticamente juntos. Y a los dos, que buscaban marca personal, les encantó la ciudad. Dennis ya había estado. Es un runner con muchos kilómetros en sus piernas y ha completado las seis SuperHalfs. Todas ellas, este 2025. A Clauss le quedan algunas, pero en Valencia corrió más rápido que nunca. Y eso a un SuperRunner… le pone. “Es una ciudad perfecta para correr. Desafortunadamente, tengo que volver a casa mañana, pero el final de esta carrera, con la animación, la gente… y, después, la ciudad, la comida… Lo tiene todo”. En experiencia quizá no, pero en eso sí coincidían. Con ustedes, la famosa Guillermina. Se hizo con todos los finishers que pasaron por su pasillo para recibir su medalla. Era la que más gritaba, la que más alentaba, una animadora que aglutina todos los valores de este medio maratón. Llegó de Argentina en 2021 y empezó a hacer voluntariado porque ayudar es su vocación. Hace poco se aficionó al running, así que… ¡qué mejor que mezclar pasiones!, pensó. Por eso estaba ahí, como los demás 1600 voluntarios de la prueba, arengando a los corredores más exhaustos. “Esta sensación es muy linda. Muchos vienen cansados, pero ven que animas y te abrazan. Me emociona mucho”, decía antes de asegurarnos que intentará correr la edición del próximo año. Ahora le toca a ella ser animada.
