FINISHER'S MAGAZINE

53 When you've run a handful of marathons, you realise that perhaps the most important moment isn't when you find yourself in your running kit in the middle of December, just before hearing the starting gun for the Valencia Marathon. The most important moments are those that runners collect throughout the weekend... in the Paradise del Running. For many, it's the moment they collect their race bib; for others, it's the conversations shared at the Expo 42K Feria Valencia; for the most impatient, it's the Bimbo Valencia Breakfast Run. Held the morning before the race. You, who despite the fact that you were going to put your legs through their paces over 42 kilometres on Sunday, wanted to try out the famous blue walkway at the l'Hemisfèric lake, you may be one of those restless types who ran a 5K 24 hours before the big day. You laced up your running shoes, probably the same ones you were preparing to triumph in the following day and headed down to the Jardín del Túria park along with a flood of runners from all over the world. In the Bimbo Valencia Breakfast Run, thousands of runners enjoyed a light-hearted, playful atmosphere. It wasn't about giving it your all, it was about stretching your legs, enjoying the calm before the storm, sailing together down the final stretch of the course and crossing the finish line... ahead of the finishers on Sunday. And having breakfast, of course. A parallel event like this would not be complete without something so typical of this city. After finishing their run, the participants in the Breakfast Run recharged their batteries with Bimbo, Cárnicas Serrano, Coca-Cola, Enervit and Cola-Cao. A breakfast that is part of our race and its symbiosis with the city, its people and the Jardí del Túria running route.
