88 2025, which will remain in the hands of Sebastian Sawe, winner of the 2024 Valencia Marathon. He was 8 seconds short of beating this. However, he did break his own personal record and won a fierce battle against himself... and against everyone else. As happened minutes later in the women's event, the men's podium was completed by Europeans. Amanal Petros broke the German record with a time of 2:04:03; in third place was Norwegian debutant Awet Kibrab (2:04:24), also setting a new national record; and fourth was Japan's Suguru Osako, with 2:04:55, another historic time and a new Japanese record. The Valencia Marathon saw nine national records broken, further cementing the event's place among the world's most prestigious races. Just ask Alex Yee (2:06:38), the British Olympic triathlon champion who flew through the race and achieved the second-fastest British time in history after Mo Farah. Or the Spanish stars looking to make history on Spain's most coveted course. The record was not broken this year, as it continues to stand in the Ciudad del Running, but eight Spanish athletes finished below the qualifying time for the upcoming European Championships. Another achievement that elevates the Valencia Marathon to the lofty heights of a paradise for running.
