Corre porque correr le recuerda a su padre. Un mal día, antes de que Juan hijo participase en su primer maratón, a Juan padre le diagnosticaron cáncer. El ‘pequeño’ Juan acabó aquella primera aventura y se lo dedicó a papá. Pero no hubo suerte con la maldita enfermedad. Desde entonces, ‘Hijo de Juan’ es el nombre que luce en todos sus dorsales. Los de todas sus carreras. Juan es el recuerdo de Juan, la motivación permanente en cada uno de los kilómetros que recorre. Algo muy especial, que va mucho más allá de marcas… o incluso del calor que este vallisoletano tuvo que soportar para completar esta edición. Aún así, en su primera vez en Valencia… personal best para Juan. Decía que volverá, claro. Y lo hará con “Hijo de Juan” escrito en el dorsal, por supuesto. ¿Lo vamos imprimiendo? One unfortunate day, before Juan Jr. ran his first marathon, Juan Sr. was diagnosed with cancer. Younger Juan finished that first adventure and dedicated it to his dad. But there was bad news about his father's disease. Since then, “Son of Juan” has been the name that appears on all his race bibs. In all his races. Juan is remembered by Juan, the constant motivation behind every kilometre he runs. It’s something really special, which goes far beyond fast times... or even the heat that this native of Valladolid had to endure to complete this year's race. Even so, on his first visit to Valencia... Juan achieved a personal best. He said he would return, obviously. And he will do so with ‘Son of Juan’ written on his bib, naturally.
